Halloween Jason Masks
Jason Voorhees is the main character from the horror slasher film Friday the 13th. His first appearance was in 1980 when he played the son of a cook-turned-murderer called Mrs Vorhees, although Jason was not meant to be the main character for the whole series.
The character has also been portrayed in other media, such as novels, books, and a cross over film with another iconic horror film character, Freddy Krueger. The character has been a main feature in the films, whether it is by stalking and murdering the characters, or by being a threat to the lead character, as he did in the film Friday the 13th A New Beginning. Friday the 13th Part V1 has seen Jason being given superhuman strength and powers and near invulnerability and viewers tend to be sympathetic towards him as his motivation for killing people comes from his rage for drowning when he was a child.
The characters appearance has gone through many changes throughout the films and the iconic hockey mask which is so popular for Halloween did not appear until Friday 13th Part 111 after Jason wore a bag over his head for Part 2. Nobody realised at the time that the hockey mask would become Jasons trademark and be instantly recognised all over the world.
